I. Eligibility
(a) All racing Thoroughbred must be purebred Thoroughbreds, registered or pending registration with the Mandatory Registry.
(b) Horses must be two years or older to race.
II. General Restrictions
(a) Horses may not be overraced. We recommend no more than 6 races per year for two-year olds and no more than 12 races per year for older horses.
(b) Currently racing horses may only enter Halter classes at shows. Any horse being shown in other primary disciplines (hunter, dressage, etc) will be deleted from the registry.
(c) Horses must be registered with the HFTRA to enter HFTRA-hosted racemeets.
(d) Horses may only enter one race per card.
(e) Owners must send Hannah the password of the month (see About Racing) in order to enter horses in an HFTRA-hosted racemeet.
(f) Owners may only enter a maximum of three horses in a single race.
III. Racemeets
(a) Any member may host a racemeet.
(b) HFTRA-approved racemeets must be held at an approved racetrack (listed below). Members may also use their own racetracks providing that they are equipped with the appropriate facilities.
(c) In order to be HFTRA approved, e-mail or private message the racecard to Hannah.
(d) HFTRA-approved racemeets must meet all of the above regulations as well as follow all general restrictions and other HF rules.

(a) To learn more about the specific workings of the Eclipse Awards, visit this page.
(b) The Eclipse Awards are a part of the HFTRA. To be eligible, horses must be registered with the HFTRA.
(c) Only stakes races at HFTRA-approved racemeets count for the Eclipse Awards.
